Birchbox October

BirchBox Review – October 2016

Share:

Birchbox have been doing their monthly subscription boxes for a little while now, but it had never been something I had thought about doing..

Until last month when I thought I should try it out so here I am reviewing what I received in my first ever Birchbox.

October saw the little boxes of joy themed by astrological elements. Being born in the middle of June makes me a water sign (seeing as my zodiac is Cancer) so imagine my surprise when I received a fire sign box… Not that this actually made a difference to me, the Birchbox I received was still very pretty and appealing to the eye (and that glows in the dark).

Each box comes with a little book explaining each of the items and how to use them as well information about the retail price of each product.

This months full size product was the Loc One and Done Shadow Stick in Peachy Sheen. This soon became a staple to my everyday make-up look. Not only was it easy to use but the rose gold colour made me so happy. I think this is something I will definitely be picking up again. RRP for full size product: £8

Next in my box was the Rituals Hammam Body Mud exfoliant. You know the Original Source Mint Shower Gel? Well this body mud smells very similar to that. If the smell of the product wasn’t enough, it is very easy to use; simply massage onto dry or damp skin and rinse off. The little grains of clay work well to exfoliate the body leading skin super soft. Despite only being a sample sized product, it is definitely one that is going to last a while. RRP for full size product: £14

Little note: when you open the box, it smells heavenly and I don’t know if this is from the products inside or just something Birchbox have added but it is something I love.

For those of you who suffer with dry skin or if like me, you’re not good at drinking you RDA of water, then this next product is a must. The Doux Me Pure Spring Mist is the perfect handbag pal. Not only is the bottles design super cute but the product contains pure spring water from the Caraman Springs in Alta Languedoc. Simply spray the mist on your face and body before applying moisturiser or whilst busy running errands, to help hydrate your skin. RRP for full size product: £16

When it comes to moisturiser, I like something I know is going to keep my skin hydrated all day. That’s why I was very happy to receive a sample of Trilogy’s Vital Moisturising Cream. Infused with Rosapene, manual and orange flower, it was not difficult to apply this product and include it in my daily routine. RRP for full size product: £25.50

Little note: A birchbox subscription is £12.95 but with Unidays you can get 50% off your first box

I suffer from very thin and fine hair so I was happy to receive the Batiste Stylist Oomph My Locks XXL Volume SprayHowever, I was a bit disappointed in this product. I have tried different products similar to this and always find they leave my hair feeling a little greasy. Maybe it is my short arms that means I spray too close to my roots or my fine hair but I don’t think I will be purchasing this again.
RRP for full size product: £4.29

This months final product was the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. Now I am someone who struggles to fall asleep or who wakes up during the night so I was curious to see if this product actually worked. If you look up the reviews online, you will see so many people raving that this product works well. However, I’m not sure if it’s the spray that has helped me fall asleep faster or if I’m just thinking it’s helping. Despite my scepticism, this product does smell amazing so it doesn’t bother me to spray it on my pillow. RRP for full size product: £16

Overall I was impressed with what I received in my October Birchbox. Check out what I got in my November box here.
